The Full Story Behind this Prewar Primary Bathroom Renovation:
This second-phase renovation for the Primary Bath completed the contemporary transformation of this duplex apartment. We managed to put the finishing touches on a few remaining items on the first floor, but the main attraction was the Primary Bathroom gut renovation. The design included integrating the room’s built-ins and changing everything else, including the under-counter luxurious soaking tub, separate double vanities, Toto toilet, and a large shower—perfect for typical NYC bathroom spaces.
Key Renovation Highlights:
The primary bath layout actually worked but needed a gut renovation to replace the shower pan/floors with proper waterproofing, as it had never been done. Access valves were not “accessible” and were located behind the tub walls! Basically, all new plumbing rough-ins were required. Along with this, we changed everything with gorgeous contemporary porcelain tile, a textured accent wall of the same material, new modern plumbing fixtures from California Faucets, radiant heated floors, new lighting, updated medicine cabinet doors and casing, custom vanities, and a stunning Victoria and Albert soaking tub!

Project Result: A Primary Bathroom Transformation
The transformation of this primary bathroom achieved the “spa” quality aesthetic we designed, and although it was just one room in this project, the results were amazing! The clients were ecstatic! Now, this second phase has brought the whole apartment together, and they absolutely love it.
