Prewar One Bedroom Apartment Remodel on the UES

315 E 68th St, NYC (2)

Construction Duration: 3 1/2 months

Residential NYC Prewar Apartment Makeover on the Upper East Side – All but the Bath

This Prewar one-bedroom apartment was a diamond in the rough! The kitchen was a typical galley—less than 7 feet wide by 10 feet overall—which was challenging due to only 30 inches of space between the range and the opposite counter. However, the apartment had plenty of light thanks to a large window at the end of the entrance. This custom kitchen includes everything a cook needs and is truly a gem! We removed as much of the kitchen wall opening as possible, added mirror backsplashes, and, with careful planning, completely opened up the space.

As part of this restoration and construction project, we installed new doors, moldings, and trim, upgraded the electrical system to 100 amps, added a wall-to-wall cover in the living room with a PTAC under the window, and refinished the floors with a custom dark walnut stain. The refinished floors were the perfect finishing touch, along with a complete skim coat and fresh paint job.

The Result

It’s wonderful to know that we created a contemporary, warm abode for this lovely couple, who are thrilled and couldn’t wait to move into their new home!
